At Doorways, we work exclusively with teens and young adults who are between the ages of 13-25.
We use a team approach to teen and young adult mental health treatment which gives us the opportunity to allow for collaboration between psychiatric providers, psychologists, counselors and dietitians in order to offer the best possible treatment for adolescents and young adults.
Every provider at Doorways offers a unique specialty in their training and experience to meet the needs of clients and families. Each of our staff is dedicated to the specialized needs of this age group and committed to compassionate understanding of their culture and struggles. Our team of dedicated providers see males, females, and nonbinary clients.

Here are some of the issues we treat young people for:
- Mood Disorders; Depression, Bipolar Disorder
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic disorder, and other Anxiety Disorders
- We have experts at Doorways who are certified by The International OCD Foundation that can help young people who are struggling with overwhelming worry, fears, or panic attacks, perfectionism, superstitions and rituals, repeating patterns or thoughts “stuck in your head.”
- Eating Disorders; Anorexia nervosa, Bulimia nervosa, Binge eating disorder
- We provide outpatient therapy and group programs for young people struggling with eating disorders. We have providers on our team that are certified by the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals and are experts in this area.
- Trauma and Abuse; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Doorways provides outpatient counseling for patients struggling with issues related to abuse or traumatic events incorporating specific trauma therapies such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
- Suicide Prevention
- Individual and group counseling can make a significant impact and help patients learn coping skills, resilience and suicide prevention strategies.
- Substance Abuse; alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, weight loss drugs, illegal substances
- Awareness and education regarding substance use and abuse is a critical component of any mental health assessment at Doorways. Use of substances can be life altering and appropriate referrals will be made for more intensive substance abuse treatment if indicated.
- Self-Harm; Cutting, Burning, Hitting
- At Doorways we look for the underlying causes of self-harm, and then clients are taught anxiety reduction and emotional regulation skills in order to avoid use of this potentially dangerous behavior.
- Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) (ADD)
- We have providers on our team who treat ADD and ADHD in teens and young adults. Our outpatient services for treating ADD/ADHD include psychotherapy services, psychological testing evaluations, medication management and behavioral treatment.
Other Services at Doorways
- Nutrition Counseling and Dietitian Services (Onsite and Offsite)
- A registered dietitian is available to provide nutritional services for: athletes, vegetarians, internationals confused about American food, allergy sufferers, disordered eating or eating disorder clients, weight management, need for weight loss or gain, teenagers with diabetes or other medical conditions.
- Onsite Counseling Services
- Doorways is available by contract to provide confidential, professional, onsite counseling services to schools and universities, community organizations, associations and more.
